View Full Version : Character: color for Magna Carta concept
wedge 11-18-2003, 03:35 AM I DID NOT DO THE LINE WORK FOR THIS IMAGE
the line work can be found here (http://www.hyung-taekim.org/mc/concept/3.jpg).
the web site belongs to Hyung Taekim (http://www.hyung-taekim.org/).
I am coloring this image because i just got my wacom back from the RMA dept.
I am trying my best to paint it in his style, but i just can't get the vivid contrasts that he does. perhaps its because these images appear to be in painter while i'm using photoshop atm?
anyways, here is my coloring for this work:

he is my favorite artists but youve got the style down to a point if you notice the legs and the strip across the legs more so the legs thats how he colors even though he does use painter you nedd to keep layering the color like you did the legs it seems like you olny have the first coat on the skin and hair keep going youve got his style capture the best in legs area esparcially the knee

yeah i see what you're saying. i was definately going for that look on the legs, i'll try to bring it to the rest of the coloring.
btw, the top image will always be the latest one.
what method are you using in photoshopi to would love to try to get that style down also but painter interface and learning curve is to much i do need to still pick up atablet but whats the method you use to acheive this style in photoshop

i have a wacom so its pressure sensitive, and i set the brush size to whatever i want and i set the opacity of the pen to pen pressure, so if i have black and i press lightly i get transparent-grey. i make sure to keep my left hand over the Alt key so i can quickly use the color picker. basically after that i just continue making strokes (you can see the direction my strokes go in) varying color and pressure.

hi
i m also a fan of H.T.
your coloring is cool ^^
maybe to got a better render check the stylet option juste like the "palette des formes" maybe it should be the ""palet form" i dont really know caus i use the french version of photoshop 7
this options can modify the brush or eraser etc...
with this one you can really customise your brush and have really cool way of painting. you can realy get close to real painting i photoshop. in painter also but i m not used to painter :p
hope you see what i m talking about and it will help you

Updated the image again. I think i'm about ready to wrap this one up. I need to work on the hair though. Right now it's not only out-of-style, but it just looks bad in general. Even though its not 100% his style, I like the way it's turned out so far. I wish I had chosen colors that were a bit more "out there" though.
