Heyas.... I'm building up a dual processor AMD MP system right now. I've recently purchased 2 x Thermalright AX7 Heatsink's for use on the processors. Everything I've read about this heatsink looks good. The case it's going in is a full aluminum Lian-Li case (except for the plexie window on the side) so that may help with the cooling a bit aswell.

I'm thinking of using These Fans (http://store.yahoo.com/svcompucycle/80yl32cryscl.html) . They have blue LED's in em.. . The stats on em are:

Air Flow: 32.5CFM
Rotation Speed: 2500RPM
Noise Level: 28.3dBA
Power Consumption: 1.6W
Rated Voltage: 12VDC
Current Draw at rated voltage: 0.13A

Is this powerfull enough to cool CPU's? Or would you say these fans are only good for intake / outake on the case? If they are not powerfull enough... what would you recommend? Since I have two processors... I'd prefer if they weren't loud. The Processors are 2 X 1800+ MP's.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I think they should be OK. IMO, I think that you might want to use a better known company when getting CPU fans. If one of those fails, you're basically up shiznit creek...especially with the Athlons that don't have a really great thermal regulation setup. It sounds to me like you might be getting into a little case modding (with the lights and window). Welcome to the family if you are. For ideas and component ideas/reviews I recomend you check out www.virtual-hideout.net They have tons of stuff about custom components, plus, they often have links to reviews on many components from fans to cases to mobos.

You can also go to this link to see what custom stuff I did to my Lian-Li case:

Thanks.... Good to know that the fans in theory are at least powerfull enough. I was curious as I had seen some fans with crazy numbers like 80CFM, just curious if those were the ones that your *supposed* to use on CPU's. :)

Nice Case.... I'm not going to go too overboard. Maybe it sort of hits you though like an unexpected passion so it could turn into something. I've just bought this Pre Modded Case (http://www.colorcase.com/lianmodcaswi.html) , and I bought a blue neon tube for it. I'll prolly switch the fans out in the case for LED ones... maybe switch the fans on the powersupply after I see how strong the ones in there are already.

Thanks again for the info.

I would also recommend you to get another fan. It seems that the 80mm one from Panflo with adjustable rpm is one of the best.
Cheers!

Hmm, never heard of the fans myself so I'd search a round a bit and see how reliable like everyone here says. As for Thermalright AX-7s, well I have two on my XP 1800's (sometimes clocked to 1900) that work fine on my Gigabyte 7dpxdw motherboard. I'm hoping and assuming you made sure that those two babies would fit your dual athlon board? I know I had some hard time finding people to tell me as I was a reall early adoptee of my motherboard but luckily they fit like a charm. I have some Enermax 80mm adjustable fans so that they can do from something like ~25dbls to ~36dbl and cfms from ~20 ~30+...ehh can't remember exactly offhand. Anyways I like them for the most part and they go well with the heatsinks. These heatsinks as you know are HUGE, but they clip on nicely and I think you'll enjoy them.
