Hallo... i sat down this weekend trying to make a ball fall on a plane (sand) and actualy make the plane bend in and produce ripples as the ball bounces on this plane.

Well i succeded using

Vol. select
push
ripple

Just reverse the stack above.

Anycase, as the ball rolls on the sand it creates a dent right underneath the ball, but as soon as the ball move to the next point, the ground lifts up into the normal position...

What i wanna do is make the trail visible instead of just making it dent where the ball is, when it rolls across the plane, the dent should stay there and create a (river) (snake trail).

I hope i wuz clear.

If you can help please do, if not and you feel i can explain something to you, feel free to ask so.

Thank you for yer time.

I think there's a plugin from Peter Watje that does object based displacement. You take object a, apply modifier, pick object b as "displacer", and whereever object b gets close the surface of object a the surface is displaced. I can't remember what it's called though... try www.maxplugins.de

I think there is (at least there was) some video tutorials about procedual displacement by Allan Mckay at www.3dluvr.com. In those tutorials he showed a way to use one object to displace another and then he somehow "tricked" max to keep the displacement when the object moved...so, I guess that's pretty much what you're looking for.

//edit:

yep, the tutorials are still there but you have to register to view them.
