View Full Version : more than one material library?

Hi,

I am working on a quite a large scene, with a lot of different textures.

When I first created my geometry I divided everything into sections according to how far from the camera. I then created a material library for each section.

Now when I come to merge the scene together, some of my textures are completely screwed :hmm:

They look extremely pixelated, and scaled in wierd ways. I used the dropper in the material editor to check that the actual materials are ok and they seem to be.

Can max reference more than one material library at once?

anyway, if anyone has seen this problem before and knows a fix that would be great...

chris :)

First, if you've applyed the shaders to your objects in separate scenes, after merging, the objects would carry their shader with them. During merging, if some duplaceted shaders are found (several shaders with identical names, but may vary in everything else...) MAX prompts you, and offers some options (e.g. to rename some...) same with objects with identical names...

I don't know exactly what happened to your scene, but check some of this:
-Did you set up the scale of separate pieces correctly?
-Are you using any WSM-s on your objects?

Maybe you could post some pics...

thanks for your reply aldaryn,

The problem has been fixed, I double checked to make sure both scene were the same scale, and then when merging instead of saying 'use merged materials' I choose 'use scene materials'.

anyway, turned out to be relatively simple, it will teach me not to panic so much....

cheers
