Where do you find the time to crank out these vids? Thanks for allowing us to share in your learning experience.

I'm especially learning a lot when the more experienced users make suggestions to improve your workflow.

Fred has squared me up on using collison objects for softbody dynamics. if you want the flaps to respond to the head..create a sphere about the size of the head (make sure its separate object and not a layer of the goblin)
Parent that to the head null or add it to the target of the bone effect.
In the sbd panel select collision object to be the sphere and "click on use radius at edge adjust".
back on the sbd panel..set collision radius to .25

Your flaps should bounce off the head when they come into contact but lookat ur animated gif, it seems that it will never happen.

see collisionclutz.mpj in the yahoo group file section.

Now if only we can render the anime shading ---

Hey Mike,

nice job you have done there to show how quick you can get things done in messiah :)

Thanks Mike for sharing your knoweldge !!
That's really helpfull to see all the steps you went through, that make the process more comprehensible, and give a method! :)

Btw, thanks Julez too, to push the vids a bit further about collison objects for softbody dynamics. :)

I guess since people are watching this video again I should point out that you don't need to turn Calculate IK on for all of the bones in the chain, just for the end bone that points to the Goal.

Mike, do you always use FK for the upperbody and the arms? or do you also utilize IK sometimes?

just wondering

thanks

*bump* and question. In this example a toon shader is used. How is this created? Screen capture please?

In the viewport of Messiah, the toon shader is one of the Display Mode settings (like you have wireframe, smooth shaded, ect...). You just have to select the object in the item list, set it to "T", and it's done ;)

Ok messiah lurker here. I have been keeping my eye on messiah to use with c4d at some point and time. The video is great!

BUT!! I had no idea messiah even had a toon shader mode in display. WOW! Is this an option to render? If not why? That toon shade is honestly one of the better I have seen coming from a 3d program. Are there parameters to set with it? For lines or anything?

I have read of ways to achieve cel shading in messiah but havent really found anything that suits my fancy till now.

Can someone shed some light here?

Cheers,
