Haha...:surprised Very helpful...

Try the free FBX interchange format from Kaydara. You install the plug and get the option to choose which platforms you'd like to install for (MAX, Maya etc) and then you get a new import/export options in each program. Then you export your MAX scene as .fbx and import it in Maya.

Works with Poly's, UV's, some textures and even rigs and animation to some extent.

Sorry, but my reply was relevent. The poster obviously doesnt understand the value of the search engine at cgtalk so he should do now.

And yes FBX is best.

I have probably given this answer 20 times, and originally it was one of my first questions here at the forum, so I agree that this topic is one of the most frequently asked questions, but still, this forum is about helping people, and redirecting someone to the search page isn't really that helpful. And besides, last time I checked MAX is a too short word to do a search on. Really, a fast reply with information on how to solve the asked problem isn't more time consuming than trying to be smart and putting up a link to a page that isn't relevant to the asked question... IMO

He will probably find the search engine soon enough...

edit: Ok MAX is searchable these days, they've removed the three letter limit.

Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime

teaching a very hungry, impatient man to fish when all he wants is one fish will result in a very bad ending :)

We all need to be aware that we should respond with the same help when we are in need. I hope that when it is your turn no one will just give you a link to the search page with no explanation.
