Hey freaks

I've just bought a dvd-burner and I want to make my own menus for my dvd's. Now I know there are a few out there and tried a couple, but those are too standard. You can't even add your costum designed menu buttons.

Does anybody know a good dvd-menu editor program for PC?

Thanks in advance!

Adobe Encore
I believe the only thing that you can't do is DTS.

The only one I've ever used has been Sonic ReelDVD - it's a really nice piece of sortware that gives you a lot of leeway on what you want to do with the DVD

Adobe Encore allows to encode only up to 3x in Dolby Digital (AC3) and then you need to purchase a license.

I suggest looking at Ulead DVD Workshop with AC3...for the price it's hard to beat and the new version is coming out in about 6 weeks.

Check it out here: http://www.ulead.com

encore is winXP only, for you win2000, like me.

but check out reeldvd, their software scenarist (too many $$ like 26,000 FYI ) is the industry standard, i assume reeldvd will have a powerful feture set as well.

I use Sonic ReelDVD too. We were thinking of switching to Encore DVD. Is this a bad move from ReelDVD?

You mean the complete ReelDVD? I got ReelDVD LE with Avid Xpress Pro, didn't get a chance to try it out yet but I heard lots of good about RealDVD.

I do know that Ulead DVD Workshop 2 might be a great contender and will most probably surpass Encore which still needs a lot of work.

Cheers!

Yes, I use the complete ReelDVD. I like the package and the UI is easy. I do not like the fact that changes made to psd files do not update. Sometimes there may be a spelling mistake or a need for some change. You have to re-import the file and relink it to everything. I'd also like to see better anti-aliasing with hot spot images, especially text.
So far I like ReelDVD, I just did not know if working with a Adobe product would integrate better with Photoshop and Premiere. It sounds like Encore has other limitations.

Oh yes the Premiere and Encore integration is very good but it seems a bit limited for it's price if we compare with DVD Workshop AC-3.

Cheers!

You should check out DVD-Lab. Its a great piece of software for a great price $99. get the demo at http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/

I like to create all my menus in other graphics apps and bring them into DVD-lab. For animated menus I use my NLE and bring them in as well. It has a great UI and alot of features for that price

ooohhh...nice find Jeremy!

Will have to compare it with the others...obviously a 89$ I can't compare it with 500$ range apps but it might have features that we only see in the expensive packages! :)

So far I was dissapointed by Encore DVD...but then my friend loves it so I guess we are all different.

Cheers!

Check out the features. I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised at the features offered by such a cheap program.

Jeremy

Edit: I wish I could spell right the first time :p

Wow! Been playing with DVD Workshop AC3 and DVD-Lab and I am impressed by DVD-Lab so far!

First, it detected my audio was improperly set to 44.1Khz and it offered to transcode it right away!

Also, it allows you some editing which most DVD authoring package lacks! And on top of that, there is an Auto Chapter feature and it did the cuts exactly where I did them manually iin DVD Workshop!

Again, awesome find Jeremy! :bounce:

Cheers!
