Hi everyone! First time poster and new student of Concept Art. My tutors have all pointed me towards you guys, so im happy to be part of this community!
Im practicing my skills by starting off with some black and white thumbnail quality images. A few of which i will show to you now.
Any help and pointers you guys can give to make these leaps and bounds better than they currently are will be much appreciated!

Additionally, im having a huge problem with getting effective brushes. I'm not as familiar with how to use the brush creation options in photoshop as i would like to be. So if anyone can give me some tips into creating some effective and widely used brush settings that would be much appreciated.
These three thumbs were made using a custom brush that i made myself. A chalk-based one and an Airbrush one. They are doing the job, but i know that if i want to truly become better i need to be more familiar with my tools.
