View Full Version : So what are these great modeling tools I hear about?
Shade01 11-15-2003, 07:13 AM Ok, I'm new to Maya but not to 3d. I'm an advanced Lightwave user making the transition to something new. I heard about some tools that make modeling much better but I forgot what they are called. I think it was a bunch of tools that come packaged together. Being as vague as I possibly can, do you know what I'm talking about?

MJ Poly Tools

or maybe Byron's Power Tools
http://www.byronimo.de/mainpage.htm
Those sound familiar?

You might want to check CPS tools (sort of like having LW metanurbs... sort of :p )
Connect Poly Shape (http://www.lightstorm3d.com/download/html_en/cps.htm)

Both are great and though there is some crossover, they do complement each other. Watch the soft selection video on Byrons Power Tools, really cool!
Bonus Tools (http://www.alias.com/eng/community/downloads/bonus_tools/index.jhtml;$sessionid$YDOZLGQK1I4LHQCLCWSCFEWAJMK0KIV0) has some pretty good modeling-related tools.
Maya needs a working vitual mirror, instancing sucks.
