love the eyes of the character , and the mouth area the are so believable , and the displacement is spot on. not over use but gets the required detail.
A top noch job as always.

The thing I like the most about this piece is not the amazing realism, the model or the lighting, done with such high technical and artistic high level . But the best is the decision of just showing and old man, wearing which I guess are hospital clothing and breathing tubes. It makes the whole composition more human and less "all full CG", which bring something fresh to the table.
It almost make you look in to his eyes, and wonder about the man long life... coming to and end.
I like it when someone does art that makes you think deeper than what you just see.
Great job!!

wow! you've even captured that zbrushiness that the models have in the pictures!
Love the small details, and great idea about breathing tubes (whatever they are called) it does add a lot of originality to the model.
This is going straight away to my "reference" folder.
Thanks for posting!! :buttrock:

Metamesh every time I see a new piece of art from you.. I am in shock for a few minutes!! it's amazing. Excellent work.
It's so well done and it has so much personality I forget its 3D and I am asking to myself, which kind of illness has this patient!!!

Ey Alex!
Amazing job. As usual. The render is great man. The eyes, one of the most difficult things, look real. The textures an shading are working great too... And, well, the detail... It simply ROCKS.
congrats

I cherish art like this, that transcends questions of medium and technique; but instead, aims right to the heart of what it means to be human.
Bravo!

This was exactly my thoughts also. Aside from the stunning CG work, this truly is a case of "a picture is worth a thousand words".

That is an insane attention to the detail but while keeping a perfect balance with the whole structure :)
Congrats on the front page, mate. Well deserved!
I saw your beautiful piece earlier and was wondering why it wasn't on the frontpage. That has changed and deservedly so !!

Congrats for the frontpage, mate. It's a good discovery see some textured models from you, it's excellent. I love the model, the care for the detail and scale is perfect, yes, however the texture is a bit flat. I think it needs more detail, some small veins at nose or some dark spots at the forehead. But I don't remember the guy with this so I could understand. are the eye textures the same in both eyes? :)
waiting for the demo.

Fine piece of work!
I don’t think the centered subject in an vast empty wide format frame helps in the “art” department. I can see a Chuck Close (http://www.statesman.com/news/content/gen/photoblog/uploads/2009/08/rbz-chuck-close-exhibit-03.jpg) styled tight-cropped frame for this.

Wohoo nice work!
One thing i see not that important but the wrinkles under the eyes may lock more natural if they where more in line with the eyes form.
And something about the wrinkles just above the nose except that its almost like a photo great shaders and amazing everything me like.

I am confused whether it is a picture made by softwares or a photo took by camera~ so real~
BigPixolin
05-14-2012, 05:54 PM
It does look extremely real, however the fact he has his oxygen tube and is in a hospital gown yet he is taking a portrait kinda breaks the realism.
