The image started completly different. I had planned on the boy dropping the sword, and his friends standing around him comforting him. Then slowly he had less friends, or they were further away, until I just made him alone. dunno, was really depressed when I was working on it, mostly because nothing in the image looks as I planned. In any event, I'd love to hear what everyone thinks. Thank you for the time. Here are some links to the progress of the image. In total it took about 20 hours, stretch out over three days. I couldn't spend anymore time on it, my paying work was backing up.

Very nice picture.
Cool water and rocks and the character is also very interesting.
I wonder why he want's to drop that sword in there appart from its much to heavy for this slim guy to wield :D
the only crit i have is that i don't realy like the sky (or is it a giant wave coming near?).
The pic might look even more stunning if you had spent a little more work into it.
But that's just my little opinion :)

Very well executed!

I think it could have been a bit more effective with a different angle. If the viewer was looking down on him from a slightly different angle, it would make the piece far more emotional.

Hey thanks guys, after I get all the feedback and crits I can, I will most likely touch it up and try to make it look better. =]

I really like the ocean, it looks almost real. Overall this is a great scene, but the sky is something I like least. Some good storm clouds would do it justice.

i really like the mood in this pic. his facial expression is dead on and the water is amazing. i, personally, like the sky. it gives enough to create a certain. only little crit is him holding the sword. i almost had to question what he was doing, maybe you could show the sword falling from his hand?

in any case, i really really like this pic. it does bring emotion. :applause:

Hey, thanks a lot guys. i almost drew the sword flaling already, but I was scarred the image of him 'remembering' wouldn't be captured. Hrmm.. and the sky, everyone seems to have mixed emotions about it, the sky seemed fine until the ocean became so detailed.
