View Full Version : Character Anim: "The Good..."
11-14-2003, 01:51 PM
I just finished an animation based on an audio clip from Sergio Leone's cult film "The Good, the bad and the ugly". It was all done in Maya 5.0 and post-processed in Combustion for color adjustements...
I hope you'll like it! Question and comments are more than welcome!

JR, you've got some awsome stuff going on here. Very, very fluid. My only crit would be his jaw movement, and his "two" morph shape. The "two" almost looks like he's saying "boo". Maybe keep the lips a little further apart? As far as the chin goes, it just seems to be moving too much. Especially at "those with loaded guns". Maybe just tone it down so it isn't going up and down so far. If you put your hand under your chin and kind of mumble out "those with loaded guns," then I think you'll find that you can get away with very little movement. Mostly done with the lips, not jaw. Hope this makes sense, great job.

Hey man! Thanks for the advices!
Yeah, this totally makes sense!
Yea it looks really nice but the skin looks like its made of goo ;) very soft rubber or something... The jaw looks very strange.
Looks cool tho.
Hi. Good Stuff man, except the softy-jaw problem...
Are you going to work on some film-effects, dust, noise, colors adjustments? It would add "realism" and fit better with the soundrack.
it's also true i have a problem with textures. uhm...

Yeah the rubber jaw, I'll be more careful with my setups next time...:hmm: It was my first attemp at realistic face setup and animation, I experimented a bit. Here's a screenshot of my setup. It's all cluster controlled, some blendshape are also driven by the clusters. This is the setup I use for my more cartoony projects, I wanted to see if it would suit for more realistic stuff.
E338: I already made small color corrections on it, right now it's gonna stay that way. If I push the project further, I'll probably work more on the film effects.
