hey all,
i finally made the decision and bought 3d max 4, i read a book about it and i wanted to buy it, not rip it or something, because of the character studio. i installed the proggie( had to choose from a few options, i chose: install 3ds max 4 + character studio....... But(big BUT) how can i start the character studio???!?!?!

character studio should start when max starts, it's in the modifier list

Firstly... you have to pay for Character Studio. It's not free with Max (sadly) - but it is included on the disc, so if you have a reg key/serial # you can authorize it for use.

To start using it, go to the Create panel, then Systems and you should have a button labelled Biped.

I would strongly recommend not leaping straight into CS if you've never used Max before... start with the basics of the package first, it'll be less of a nightmare when you do delve into it!
