Hi,
I have tried to post a request in collaborative projects forum, but the sticky thread says "Listings are for projects being managed on CGTalk. Posts which contain links to projects elsewhere will be removed".
My question is how do I put my project on CGTalk, I see no subforum devoted to project announcements or such. Could you point me in directions as to what I am supposed to do, or how collaboration is made on this portal?
Also I have red some warnings about , not Fishing, that is, I do not know how to accredit myself to be considered not fishing and post on the collab subforum regulary. Also, the collab subforum seems to have 2000 threads, but I see only few threads. If you kindly allow me, I would like to criticize this restrictive policy towards posting, for example, on gamedev.net I have found character modeler (paid), and mocap studio (paid), and thats all thanks to gamedev restrictionless posting rules. I know gamedev's Help Wanted forum is a troll town, but it is better in my opinion than ghost town.
So I wonder about this question of mine- how do I make my project managed on cgtalk? where to post it, and what to do to post in collab subforum. Thanks!

So,... it looks like a pretty good system to me. I hadn't seen it before.
Kirt states in the listings that if you have questions that you should PM him. The reason you cant see all the posts is because of the view settings at the bottom of your thread view page. Change these settings to view all threads.

Linking to outside sites has always been frowned on by forums that provide free services to their members. This is a widely adapted policy and can be found on almost every board. Traffic misdirection is not what cgtalk is here for. I think you understand what is required but just don't agree with the terms, which is fine. Use other sites.

Hope this helps.

Exactly what Kanga has stated plus ...

The rules that we've set up for the Collab forum were put together by request and with the feedback of this site's members. They've been in place for a number of years now and they work just fine for the people who frequent the forum. They are "restrictive" to prevent those who have no interest in being a part of the forum but come here only to advertize or recruit our members for their projects hosted and managed elsewhere.

CGTalk is a community forum. We have many artists of varied skill levels who come here to be a part of the community. We also have many visitors and lurkers who would like to use this resource of artists without much consideration of what CGTalk is here for. This is why there are "restrictions" and I'm inflexible in the enforcement of these policies.

The rules are very clear as to how you may post your project in the Collab forum. If you disagree with these rules, then you are disagreeing with the community here. In which case you probably will not get much assistance from our members and it seems pointless to post here at all.

Hopefully that answers your questions. Feel free to comment here or send me a PM if there is anything else I can do for you.

Hey Johnto, I think you're stresing a bit too much about the "rules".

Don't be too put off...the strictness does reduce activity, but having a boat load of junk passing through was not something any of the regulars enjoyed swimming around in.

I'd suggest you just post and see what happens...

#1 worst case that happens is having your post deleted if you have not contribute to the community at all, and don't meet the minimum posts requirement.

#2 worst case you will usually see in here is gettting zero replies. And that is usually because of poor presentation.

Also keep in mind the positives!
If you are asking for help on a quality project, and present it in an appealing, visually stimulating way, there are artists in here that will go out of their way to help you.

Thank you for replies, though I still have my question.
1- if external http content is forbiden how do I show my project then? Does cg provide members with possibility to host their projects, like sourceforge for example? I am not clear with this. Thank you for clearing this out for me.

There are at least 100 examples in this forum that show you how the projects are managed on CGTalk. Did you even bother to take a look?

External http is not forbidden. We just want to see that the project is being managed here, is updated when progress is being made, and that you're not just using CGTalk as an advertizing board for your project.
