View Full Version : Center of manipulator handle blocking components?

It bugs the hell outta me when sometimes, I'm in the middle of an intense modeling session, and I'm trying to select certain vertices, but the center square manipulator handle is blocking the vertex I want to select, and I'd have to back out of the tool and go back to the select tool and reselect my components again so I can get to the blocked vertex. How do you work around that annoyance?

i just switch tools using q, w, e, r

if the handles are blocking a vert i just switch to q, and then back to w or e.

That's the part that's bugging me. :p Oh well. It's a minor thing anyways.

oh i wish that you could jump from vertex to vertex the nurbs-way with the arrow-keys..

(no i dont wanna install the Xumi-Tools :) )

You could always use the paint selection tool.... for selection that is, not for the jumping part ;)

What about switching the view? I usually just orbit a bit and grab what I need.

In some instances, orbiting around won't do jack because the center handle is so damn close to the vertex I want to select.

Jumping to paint selection is too much of a hassel. Would definitely break up my workflow. :(

Xumi can fix my problem? How?

Just make a shelf button för each paint selection mode (vertex, face, etc) with pre-made settings and you're good to go (you could probably even assign it to a hotkey). Of course, if you just want to make a quick selection of a cv or two, the right-click-drag-go is the quickest way, but as soon as it gets any more complicateted than that, the shelf button way is really fast. Just a click away... :)
