View Full Version : The Birth - Christmas Card Illustration

Hi guys! I have submitted this for the showcase gallery, and it was declined. After watch the level of the illustrations, I realized that it was fine, and Ive decided to put this for critique in this forum. This is, I think, the third complete image I drew with Photoshop and my modest Genius712 tablet, so Im really starting in digital painting.
I tried to get some nice atmosphere but I think i need more expertise in the figure drawing.
Any critics, suggestions, or advices will be great for me!

I like your lighting quite a lot with it coming from Jesus and the God Rays. My main suggestion would be with the composition. Maybe move Joseph a bit closer to Mary and Jesus. It would help sell the closeness between them. Also maybe have some of the God ray light bleed over top of Joseph and establish some darker tones in some areas to give it a bit more punch. Great job!
