I have a character with a shirt done with a cloth simulation. As a result the shirt geometry lies very close on the body geometry. And this causes Maya problems when rendering. Somehow the wire seems to come through. See the pic below. I used Maya renderer with smooth dmap shadows. But smooth raytracing shadows and even MR produce problems. Anyway I want to stick to shadow maps, because of the render times for the planned animation.
I hope some of you have some ideas on how to fix this. I already set the clipping range of my camera as small as possible and played with shadow maps bias. I can't really seperate and hide the whole underlying mesh, because as you can see, the hands are partly hidden in the sleeves and should interact with the cloth.
I'm open for all ideas. Thanks.
