I wanted to post this short film I did before I created before "The Legend of Farmer Jenkins" (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=77344). This too was created at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit.

This is a 3:40 min live action short film with 3D animated visual effects about a boy who try's to create his own creature from a recipe he receives over the internet while his mom has left him alone to watch his little sister. Much mayhem madness ensues when things get a little out of control.

Ha! Yeah the quality is not what I would like, but this is very much a student film, and I've learned a lot from this film.

But thanks for the kind words. I used Maya, After Effects and Premiere for this one.

I thought it was a pretty good job. I havent seen much cgi in a live action movie on this forum...been here a month and a half. So kudos for the effort. If anything negative, I think the lighting/textures needed some more work..it didnt match exactly. Then again its really hard to do that unless you are ILM. All in all a great idea, and nice model work...got any more movies? How long did it take you to create this film?

Thanks Edge! Yeah, like I said this was an earlier student film I did and so it's kinda rough around the edges. My main focus in this film (and in all my films) was the character animation and storytelling. Rendering, Texturing, lighting are areas I've always needed to improve upon.

This is one of several films I have completed and can be found online. I posted "The Legend of Farmer Jenkins" (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=77344) here on CGTalk in August and got a choice award for it.

Also check out my website at www.markderidder.com for some more short films. If you liked this one, I recomend "Playground Magic" (http://mywebpages.comcast.net/markderidder/pm.htm) which was the precursur to "GCA!". Again, that one's even more rough around the edges, but still a fun story I hope.
