Iím doing some composit work in Nuke. Iíve got some footage and I need to place some 3D elements in there.
In a moving shot, Itís quite difficult to track the DOF and determine the amount of blur. Is there a handy trick for this, a technique or something?

Thanks very much!

if we could estimate depth by looking at an a-posteriori blurred image, everyone would have magical depth cameras and never need to composite again.

your best bet is to actually make the live action footage's blurs match the synthetic footage whenever you run into trouble. use a masking program like mocha, which estimates foreground and background rigid objects based on time analysis, to extra foreground/background, and adjust appropriately.
