View Full Version : Vehicle: Ferrari Enzo
ApocGFX 11-11-2003, 04:11 AM This is just a WIP rendering, but I feel I'm coming down the home stretch with this model, and a good honest critique could only push me more towards photorealism.
Before you mention them, there's a couple things that I need to be overlooked. I haven't done the mirrors yet, and the tires are not textured or displaced at all yet. There are also some badges and details I have still to do, and some seams that need fixing...
My eventual intent with this picture is to either composite the Enzo into a photo background, or create a simple, but effective one in 3D.
Any suggestions would be MOST appreciated.

i think it looks a bit melted especially the front(i.e. headlights).
Moreover the reflections are a bit too blurry(maybe this causes the melted look). Otherwise great work so far.
ps: don't forget the ferrari symbol at the nose ;)
look on www.raz.ro an see how it is done. maybe raz can help you.
i thik that the headlights are too stuck into the car

Only real crit I have is that the seams between the various body parts look more like they were molded into a single piece, than being seperate parts (i.e. the hood, doors and engine cover). This gives it the appearance of a Matchbox car or a plastic model with a single piece body shell. Also, that circle behind the side window I'm guessing is the gas tank fill cap. Again, it looks molded into the body, rather than a seperate part. I just get the impression of a really detailed toy.
Your reflections look a bit off as well. It might just be whatever is being reflected, but it appears the hood, front fenders, windscreen, and side panels next to the rear window are very wavy. The rear fenders and the door look great though.
Better than I can do though, considering I've just started modeling a few weeks ago.

I agree, the body as a whole looks a bit "bubbly" and cartoonish looking. crisp up the body and you'll have a more realistic model
is the emblem on the side of the car supposed to be that large? it seems to stand out quite a bit.

Fix your wires!!! i can see alot of wires misaligned, it seems the car is asymetrical in some spots, when it shouldnt be. That is also causing the bad "bubbling"

Thank you all for your replies and critiques. I spent several more hours on this, in particular trying to fix some of my seams.
Here's the newest rendering... Hope to hear what you all think:

I'm personally a lot happier with this rendering than the last one... Still searching for areas requiring further improvement...

great improvements! Rendering is much better now (may be the IOR of the glass is a bit too high). But you did not change the headlights. You have to upper those. And did you champfer the edges around the headlights? That would make it :)
Keep up the VERY good work!
