View Full Version : SSS shader
ndr87 11-08-2011, 03:00 AM Hello, I am currently working on a glacier scene. I have found the results of the misss_physical shader are very accurate as far as sub surface scattering goes, however that shader is lacking in transparency, reflections, etc. I was wondering if there's a way to combine it with other mental ray shaders, so as to get the best aspects of each? Thank you in advance!

You have at least 2 options:
1) Render SSS separatly (may be with additional render layer) and than compose it with main render in 2d app.
2) Add result of SSS to main shader(mia_material, wich have reflection, transparancy and everything else you may need).
misss_physical.outValueA to mia_material_x_passes.additional_colorA.
Or you can plug mia_material to material slot of misss_physical.
