here's a small suggestion:
at least allow the use of standard photoshop filters like auto levels and brightness/contrast.
I also don't see why hdri shouldn't be allowed.............
Anyway, interesting contest. :)

Good point :)
Auto levels and brightness + contrast is allowed now as well as HDRI.
the reason we didnt want to include HDRI was the advantage for r8.x gi renders over anyone using 7 or below
I've edited the rules.

Is this open to everybody or just to C4D users in Europe? Since the prizes are in Euros.

Hey,
> 02: scene should contain: plant life, water, sculptures, crumbled wall
Does the scene have to have all 4? Are these all must have elements? Can someone have say plant life and crumbled wall or water and sculptures?
Thanks,

A great theme!
But I think the specifications are a bit over the top considering the timeframe here... Less than a month and all that stuff required. Anyone with a fulltime job or school is definitely out of the loop before it even starts. If one wants to model and texture all those elements well, that is.

Thanks,
If you are creating a desert scene it would be fairly difficult to add plant life compared to someone who's building an aztek temple for example. Less plant life/water in a desert scene is not an issue.
Take in regard the theme:
The theme/subject of this contest is Fantasy. Let your imagination run wild on the following topics: Buildings, dwellings, characters, water dynamics and erosion.
Erosion of buildings and ground plays (think of crumbled walls etc.) an important part in this contest. The scene should be ancient looking but not completely desolate. At least one character has to be included in the scene. The scene may be apocalyptic, or non-apocalyptic. It's up to you.
Try to create a render that is closely related to the theme of the contest. The judges will be looking for that as well.
I hope that answers your question.

Thanks,
Yes it does. I have been sketching this weekend on a fantasy environment piece that matches this theme, but there are little examples of water or sculptures, but plenty of plant life, crumbling walls and a lone character.

Hmm, by specifying certain themes like crumbling walls etc it tends to make it more difficult- I mean a fantasy image with crumbling walls... Tends to narrow the field of what you can do.

It makes it easier for the judges to decide who actually uses more advanced/better texturing and modeling techniques etc. since most entries will contain the elements given in the theme.
The contest theme still allows for allot of creativity, but with a few boundaries.
Personally i've seen contest winners submit a render that doesn't fit the contest description at all. We want to avoid that.
