View Full Version : no doubt a very simple question, but...
white dragon 11-09-2003, 11:58 PM I've no doubt this has got an extremely simple solution but I can't figure it out, and if someone could help I'd be a very happy bunny. I'm using XSI v3.0 and for some reason whenever I create a new object or apply a material to an object the property window doesn't automatically open. For example if you went create > primative > polymesh > cube it would produce the cube but not bring up anything else. I can press the enter button and get the box up. I found this not to be much of an issue till I started simulating cloth and hair and now find it extremely annoying that it's not popping up with all the properties. Please help!

in file>user preferences/interaction check the box "automatically popup..."
ctrl switches that behavior (if it's on and you ctrl click a menu or command it won't pop up the PPG as usual and viceversa).
it can happen that if you got a crash while holding control or some pref file gets corrupt it becomes switched off, no big hassle, just turn it back on from the user prefs.
next time btw a more meaningful thread name would be nice, I (and many like me) sometimes skip "simple question" or "stupid question" threads; u risk loosing good contributions with generic names :)

Thanks so much for the fast reply! That sorted the problem out, I think your comment about the crash is most likely spot-on, I couldn't figure out why it had suddenly stopped!
Thanks for the pointer on the thread name too, I'll bear it in mind of future reference. :)
