This is a charcter I'm working on. 3 days so far. I was going for a style similar to Final Fantasy games. I'm thinking I need alot more details but before I go further, I would love to hear other opinions.

Thats pretty sweet so far.

Crits would be that the teeth arent like that on people. The top teeth usually come over the bottom teeth and the top ones arent as angled backwards you have them now. The hair could be made a little better than you have atm to. Give the hair a little more depth, and you could do it anime style with spiky tips.

Other than that I really like it.

Thanks for the reply. I understand what you mean. The teeth are just cylinders at the moment, sometimes I block shapes out to get a general feel for the overal image. I find hair to be the hardest thing to model. I'm feeling stuck and uninspired at the moment. I'll work on it some more though.

looks good as always tho ears arent right its annoying to see alot of good models with tons of detail and ears that are odd (not that ures are the worst ive seen) anyways fix the ears and move the teeth back a bit and uve 1 cool model :)

Final Fantasy characters always have a lot of belts, and mismatched clothes that seem to match when all put together. One sleeve longer than the other, miscelaneous chains, that kinda thing. Remember that while you're working on it. =P

alright man here goes, i too have been trying for a final fantasy style, the first thing u gotta do is plan ur character out to the extreme, get ahold of as much tetsuya nomura art you can find and get into his head, he designed all of the characters for the final fantasy games from 7 on, he's ur man(i dunno about 9 but i did'nt like 9) second off, i found that and although i heard this is a rumor it works for me, use a real person to base ur references off of instead of drawings, its hard for someone who draws stylistically to come up with accurate references that get an anime style while supporting realistic proportions i prefer to put the anime style in while im shaping the character, thats why i also have as much 3d art from the games that i can, the bouncer too is a good example i have just purchased game guides so i can look at the pictures of the 3d art they have in there. a few things about ur guy, final fantasy characters no matter how anime looking they were, all had teeth and gums, not solid blocks, that style is xenosaga style, second off the jaw does not extend back past the ears, thirdly your hair, get rid of it and study some 3d images from the final fantasy games if you are familiar with 3d you'll see what they did but basically they took strands of flat polys, and in some case bended shapes and uv texture mapped them with transparency on both ends (i find this works best for me) and carefully laid them out on the characters head. your hair is way too sparse for a final fantasy character. oh yeah and dont make the mouth already morphed model it in the neutral shut position and then morph it to a grimace with wahtever morphing software your program uses.

keep going, in my opinion i would start over and work more on each attribute before you move on but if ur satisfied it's only my opinion so dont worry about it. XP

Thanks again for your help guys. I'll work on the ears, jaw, teeth and definetly the hair. I'm not sure about the technique you are talking about with the hair and strands. Got anything you've done that I can see? I was pretty sure they were created with flat polygons and opacity mapped. Of course better placement than mine. For the costuming, im not really going for that look, with wild clothing, but I see what your getting at. I'm horrible with titles, perhaps I should have called this anime style guy? Well I'll post another update soon.

for your hair, I suggest you make spikes that jut out of his head just like Cloud had. Well hell, most FF chars had spiky hair.

You're ears are out of proportion. They are too low. The teeth of your character seems like he got knocked out big time. I suggest trashing away the hand and start a new one. It doesn't fit the style. But then again its just my opinion.

C&C
His ears seem to be a bit to low..
Would think that his arms look a bit bare... try giving him some type of underarm armor or maybe some shoulder armor... another thing is that as of now the char looks like his an mirror image of him self, the left looks just like his right, try making the two sides look a bit more diffrent... like giving him a cantine (u know the thing u put water in when your in the dessert...) holder on one side... for example.. now this is just some suggestions and ideas.. I don't know exacly what u'r going for but I might be able to give u a idea that u think is good.. as for the boot and existing armor.. two thumbs way up!

Keep working on him.. I see foward to seeing the end result.
