View Full Version : Vehicle: First freehand sports car
Pinzmon 11-09-2003, 06:16 AM I've modeled a couple of cars from blueprints, and they turned out OK, but I wanted to try to create my own shape. This is my first try at something original. Although now that I look at it, I think it looks like a Stingray hood with a BMW grill and a TT back end :)
Obviously a WIP, still needs lots of things like doors, mirrors, an interior, lights, much better rims, etc.
Any and all crits appreciated. I'm just looking to get better.

One gripe, how does the door open so someone could get in or out?
@nighthawk: there are no doors, because itīs not finished...
@pinzmon: looks good so far, but the model needs much
more shape definition(?)
and the rims are a bit simple, but i think they are also wip
can we have a rear view?
*waiting for updates*

Well I know its not done, I know because this is a WIP board. But I think he should still take the doors into account. Because when I do I fel like the cabin section is too far back.

if there is no smooth modifer attached to this model and that is how many vertix's which are on that body then this is going to be a very hard project to complete.
the rule is, less = more.
try using less vertix's and splines in the model and use a smooth modifer to get the curves.
also try modelling one section of the car and continue tweaking this until you have the shape you are after and then move on to the next section.
hope this helps?

Thanks for the comments - they really help. Anyone know good material settings for auto glass in Lightwave?

Ah, yep - sorry about that. I realized it after I typed it in, and then I had to wait 12 hours for the post to show up. Even now I can't edit it, so I'm doing a reply post.
Can anyone suggest settings for auto glass material in Lightwave?
