Ei guys, here's a preliminary painting I did for an art jam at the office, which we do every two weeks. Can you please share your thoughts on this? Thanks in advance!

I don't know how much more detailed you'll get when you finish this, so I'll just comment on the overall composition or possible foundational problems.

The image is cropped too close to the fish--there's no reason to have it's fin and whiskers be that close to the border of the image. Give it more breathing room and show a bit more of the immediate surroundings.

The subjects are back-lit, but they also show fairly prominent lighting from another direction--what is that light source?

Is the humanoid supposed to have somewhat mutated body, such as the odd looking legs, o r is he supposed to be a normal human in anatomy/figure?

Hi Lunatique, thanks for the feedback! He's supposed to have a mutated body... but that's something I haven't quite decided on just yet hehe, and yup, the legs are just plain wrong hehe! And for the cropping, thanks for that, I'll fix it. Cheers!

apart from all the comments from robert . which will be very usefull i would also like to add that you have the opportunity here to give the boy a distinct body language . of a curious hunter . it all seems to be in a very straight line from head to toe . a lil tilt of head of perhaps the torso part leaning a lil forward giving him a curious look .

Oi thanks for that! That'd be a nice tweak to the character! Thanks a lot!

By the way guys, here's the finished piece. I had to meet the deadline so I wasn't able to post more updates here. Thanks!
