CGTalk - Maya API: printf

heya!
i'm starting to learn Maya API (on Visual C++), and this evening i was trying to follow some tutorials. I immediately had a simple problem.
Printf doesn't print anything in the maya log. Not even copying - pasting the tutorials' code... Only the final result of the program command is printed out.

i wonder...

Is there anything i should do to tell Visual C++ to redirect the standard output stream to Maya?

any help/suggestion?

Hi,

You may be looking in the wrong place. The printf goes to the output window.

that's definitely a point ;)

anyway printf still doesn't work. I managed to get the output with "cout", and i'm quite satisfied with it.

Still i wonder how i could write messages on the script editor (apart from warnings, errors and setResult)

Is that cos you're interested in finding somewhere youself to learn it from?

If so, then "Complete Maya Programming" by David Gould is the best (and, I think, only) book on the subject...
