View Full Version : Newbie Question: Texture Paint Mode

I'm almost ashamed to ask such a basic question, but: What is the purppose of the Texture Paint mode in Blender?

I already understand (I think) the Weight Paint mode and the Vertex Paint Mode... but that Texture Paint mode really evades me.:shrug:

Anyone could make it clear (the purppose of the mode)?

It only paints on an existing image. So you can load a blank (plain, one color) image and paint your own onto it, or add brushed elements on top of another image.

The painting is saved automatically or I have to do something to save it?

You have to save it. There's a save icon in the Image Window.

yep, it's used with a uv mapped image.
you map it, click on the little paintbrush button and activate the paint mode, you can paint in the 3D window and it the image window

any chance they would add more functionality to this tool? I would LOVE a clone brush feature that could patch over UV seams easily... unless someone wants to suggest a good way to work with seams... texturing is NOT my forte :(

I think that people were adding different brush types and paint modes in the Tuhopuu 2 branch, but it has died. Maybe they will make a come back in Tuhopuu 3, and if enough people clamor for them, get ported to the main Blender release.

I think it was Bjorn who worked on that, actually. Hopefully he'll get back to that, after the softbodies are finished;)
