View Full Version : stuck on a single piece of a model
Spectre1130 10-13-2011, 04:12 AM I am new to these threads and I need some help. I am modeling a football helmet in 3ds max, and am stuck on the chin strap piece. I have tried several techniques, of which none are generating the desired result. Any sage advice on at least getting close to a desired result with a nice clean mesh? All tips would be appreciated. I have included a link to the kind of strap I'm modeling.

Like any other objects, break it down into basic forms...
-Half sphere for the chin piece (yeah it's an ellipse, just scale the sphere along the width)
-Straps...well they're just flat planes
-Boxes for the "attachments" thingies
Go as low poly as you can, adding subd's will make it pretty. Less polygons = no pinching and fast manipulations.
See here for basics and then start rockin them polys.
