You read that right. Following a long trend of amazing and popular shows which were cruelly mistreated and cancelled, Invader Zim is finally coming to DVD this spring. They're not being released by Nickelodeon however, but through AnimeWorks, a division of Media Blasters:

"We at Media Blasters are thrilled to add Invader Zim to our powerful line-up, and expect it to be one of our flagship titles in 2004," said John Sirabella, CEO of Media Blasters. "Zim has created quite a fan buzz in the anime community and we know that it will be a huge sensation!"

With the huge cult following behind Invader Zim, I predict that these DVDs will sell extremely well.

I figured since the powers-that-be at Nick were LITERALLY out to bury Zim (this from people who worked on the show), it would never ever ever get released on DVD. This is fantastic news. Yea, buttrock worthy even.

P.S. I wonder if they'll include all the episodes produced or only the ones that aired. There are supposed to be a couple that got locked away which they considered among the best they made.

I read some forum posts on www.roomwithamoose.com by someone who worked there, and he said that they had the season 3 unaired(U.S.) episodes... :cool:

By the way, to anyone who doesn't really like anime and hasn't seen IZ, don't be afraid to check it out. Invader Zim isn't actually anime. (by the current definition, not the original meaning of the word)

Great news for cartton lovers ....
Invasor Zin is one of a few cartoons that realy make a difference

I just hope they can release the Angry Beavers in DVD someday .

Yea, one of my friends worked on this show. She said the reason why they canceled it is because technically Zim was a terrorist who was trying to figure out how to destroy the earth so the subject matter was too close to home(the 911 attacks on NYC happend during the shows first season). Stupid PC execs looking way too far into things like this. Let alone they put the show in a shitty time slot(9pm friday evening) and they didnt always show it every week, so showings were spotty.

Yes, this is GREAT news. I will buy those up ASAP. For those of you who are wary of Invader Zim's anime association, I can tell ya it's not anime, It does not have the 12 frames of animation per 30 minute episode thing going on, I think anime is total garbage, anyway, Invader Zim is hilarious and the colors, CG, and design are all top shelf, not to mention the stories. Anyone who has not seen IZ should definetly check it out.

i watched a few episodes of invader zim on friday...

that was the strangest cartoon i have ever seen...

but i will definilty rent the first season and give it a chance =)
