Can someone direct me to a link(if there is one) of the new features that are being added to v11. Thanks!

All they've announced so far (I think) is the new hair. But it's still in Alpha, more to come. Check the Info pages at the Hash forum.

There is word of "ease of use" features also. Hash are pretty good at working out workflow in ways that other people don't think of so this should be interesting.

It looks like the A:M 2004 CD is shipping:)

son of a ... and I just got my 2003 two days ago (to make sure I got a good stable release, which 10.0n appears to be) ... oh well, time to go beg to Hash ... this happened to me once before and they were nice enough to send me the new version for just the cost of shipping. But man, that seems kind of early ... don't they usually wait till january?

Hey, Chikega, I just looked at your homepage. There is some nice work there. I particularly like the magazine covers, if you just think of them as pictures then they are realy surreal. One question though: why no mention of AM? ( John struggles to repress the schizoid love/hate monster that makes him use AM).

Oh, also, it lookes like they have stoped developement of 10.5. Isn't it a bit early for this?

I think that version 10 was released on New Years day last year. I don't remember the exact date the annual CDs started going out.
Usually there is overlap versions and updates keyed to both CDs during December and January.

Thanks. I've been a casual user of AM since about '95 - off and on for grins mainly. Jeff Lew's latest DVD re-inspired me to upgrade to the latest version. I use a variety of 2d/3d software which is mentioned on "my background" page. So much to learn - so little time:)

Chikega, so Jeff Lew inspired you too. Heh, I've been using AM off and on for about the same time frame (started back with MH3D), finally swore off it after 9. But after watching Jeff AND hearing how stable 10 was AND seeing some quality work I gave in and opened my checkbook once again to the good folks at Hash.

What's even more interesting is to read people's reaction to Jeff Lew's DVD from other forums. They're all just utterly amazed at A:M's workflow and how fast Jeff can get in there and toss those limbs around. And in both the Lightwave and Cinema4d forums, viewers are re-evaluating whether their apps have true Dope sheets - which neither of them do at this point in time. It's really sending a message.

I think Hash should put "As seen on Learning 3D Character Animation with Jeff Lew" in big bold letters on the top of their website. I'm actually pretty surpised I haven't seen anything anywhere on their website.

See that would be admitting that hash inc. owes something to it's users, and we all know it's the other way around in every way imaginable

I jest. They did have alien song priminently displayed for a long time on the site.

Version 9 was the last version I had myself - I just got the 2004 CD in today - it's actually 10.5n - so, it must be one of those hybrid CD's riding the line between two versions. I can already see the difference - seems much more stable. Time to load the "green dude" from Jeff Lew's site and play around.

I installed both 10.0n and 10.5n on my machine. 10.5n is pretty stable but it crashed on me regularly in model mode with any undo. 10.0n hasn't crashed once! Doesn't really matter since I've mostly been animating with the green dude. I must say that the best thing about Jeff's video is that he shows how fun animation can be (in part thanks to the AM workflow).

Back to V11 ... I'm anxious to see what these new usability features are and to play around with those new hair features, which look really sweet.

It's good to see that A:M is still flourishing. I used to be a A:M user, but stability was a big issue and ultimately pushed me away for good. I just couldn't take the problems anymore. The problem with A:M has classicly been you have to choose between a stable version which doesn't have all the features you need or brave using a newer and buggier release which does have the features you need.

It's true that A:M has incredible CA workflow and I would even say it puts other apps to shame in that respect. A:M has reusable actions and a NLE-style timeline. But if you cannot consistenly use those features without crashes... well you know. I use LW now and it was a big change in terms of CA for me when i moved from A:M. But... it was worth it in terms of stability. It was not my imagination. A:M was that unstable and using LW showed me it wasn't just my imagination. LW has its hiccups but nowhere near as bad as A:M was for me.

Best of luck,
