Zorgas Borgas....The uv editor is driving me maaaaadddd.

Ok so here s the deal, i m textering an arm, when i lay out the top half of the arm using an automatic map it lays out the uvs in the editor in some peices. I then use move and sew and they all come together nicely. I then lay out the bottom half of the arm using an automatic map, they too come into the uv editor in some pieces. The problem is though when i try to move and sew them, they sew to the top half of the arm. I ve tried deselecting the top arm uvs, ive tried to just view selected items. Nothing seems to work, they always sew to the top half of the arm.......ROOOOAaaeaAArrrrrr. ANyways any help would be greatly appreciated.

This sounds like something you might get better responses from in the Maya forum.

hey, are you moving the pieces around first b4 you stitch cause its alot easier and makes less of a mess if you line up the uv's b4 stitching. i dont understand why they are connecting to the other part, cause when you stitch you have to select the edges you want to stitch, are you selecting them individually or as a group?
it may end up being alot easier if you just use cylindrical mapping for the arm as a whole. I know uv maps can sometimes be a real b!t@#!! you just gotta keep playing with it.

Yea thanks man....i found that splitting the arm into 3 peices....the top then automatic map...middle to seperate them...and bottom automatic map....worked...i just have ot manually tweak the middle section. Because with automatic mapping it will try and stitch together uvs that share the same edges. Thanks for the reply though.
