"How did you face the transfer from workshop to digital?
There was a lot of collaboration. I was one of the first of my branch who switched to digital, but I was very anchored to physical work. So in the digital painting I took advantage of my past makeup techniques, especially the aibrushing. For King Kong I will be again a link between Weta Digital and Weta Workshop, making puppets and bringing them into digital.

Is the history of Makeup similar to the history of CG?
In the CG history Star Wars and Jurassik Park were turning points. Are there turning points in Makeup history?
The turns in Makeup history were John Chambers introducing latex in the ‘30s and the introduction of silicone some decades after. In ROTK we’ll se a magistral work done with silicone on Bilbo Baggins, we’ll see him really old, quite ancient! Another revolution in Makeup is the shortening of the times of making of the makeups. >>Link<< (http://www.caltanet.it/2003/index.php?op=homeSezioneApprofondimentoRec&id_arg=2003&ID_ARG=2229&id_f=&desc=CINEMA&descrizione=ISDA%20-%20multimedia&descrizione_figlio=&ID_LISTA=134&ID_REC=44201&temp=)

and I was very pleased to interview GINO! yes, I vas the italian boy who planned and did this interview...Gino is fantastic, but more fantastic was the original footage he showed us. Especially all that 'reels' with original plate, then camera tracking, then animation, than matte painting, then shading and lighting, then digital color grading...there were many shots of the Flooding of Isengars scenes! Quite amazing..
Have you seen the Photogallery? the link was in the bottom of that page... have you seen the gollum puppet? really fantastic...it was so viscidous!! ^_____^
