Title: I found it !
Name: Jean-Michel Bihorel
Country: Turkey
Software: Maya, mental ray, Mudbox, Photoshop, ZBrush
Here is a character I've been working on for a wile. His name is Lumok, he is the main character of a short movie that we are working on at the moment with my team and which will take place in Istanbul. Our small alien is coming to this historical city to chase a mysterious treasure. This picture depict the moment were he finds it.I hope you'll like it!
The plate is a photograph shot with my canon 7D. Only the character is full 3d There is a tiny bit of correction on the photo but it's mainly strait out of the sensor. The short film will be done with live footage and integrated 3D.

Wow, that's incredible! :buttrock:
How did you get the sun dried tomatoes so realistic? The DoF is a nice touch too.
Do you have a clay render or wires that you could show?
Great stuff :applause:
Thanks, I'm sorry but I forgot to mention that only the character is cg, the plate is a photograph shot with my canon 7D. There is a tiny bit of correction on the photo but it's mainly strait out of the sensor. The short film will be on live footage with integrated 3D. I will try to edit the main post to precise that.

It's a very nice high detail character and it's integrated very well on the plate.
Great job.
Looking forward to see the animation.

Good one. It would be better if you had some rim light capturing the shape of the character.
Thanks for your comments. I'm glad you like it.
For the rim light I thought of it also but after testing I thought it was not completely justified with a background like this so I went for something softer. I might give another try.
Cheers!

congrats man! and whats your computer config??
Many thanks guys!
The configuration on which I worked on at home was pretty bad. 3gigs of ram a 3 years old quad-core and a bad graphic card but it was fairly enough to handle what I had to do as I was working piece by piece. I did render the picture at work though on a dual-xeon with 8 go of ram. Nothing fancy! This is not a scene requiring to much machine power :)
Cheers!

It's a nice image, but it could be better integrated.
To me it doesn't look like he fits in that shot yet. He looks flatly lit compared to the tomatoes. His top light should be stronger and perhaps a bit more red bounce hitting him from below would help too.

it looks really nice. how much years of experience did it take for you to do something like this
Thanks guys.
I'm working for a bit more than 3 years now in the CG industry. Add to this 2 years of school . This is for the 3d part but I've always been more or less into drawing characters since I'm child. So I couldn't exactly say how many years it took to me to realize such a picture.

That is a really cool design, I like the feel you're going for. I can definitely tell you put a lot of work into the facial details, and I admire that. You should get this model 3D printed.

The menu is a picture chance with my brother 7D. Only the personality is complete 3d There is a small bit of modification on the picture but it's mainly strait out of the indicator. The video clip will be done with stay video and incorporated 3D.
