--Genre:
multiplayer online strategy

--Project size:
Short (3-6 months, working on our spare time), for fun only :rolleyes: , no money involved

--Basic Idea:
Compete against your friends by using your avatar.
Try to gain more energy and use energy to make your avatar
stronger and choose different behaviors for him.
The winner is the player who dominates the entire
territory or most of it if playing a timed match.
Temporary aliances may be formed between players in order to take out stronger opponents

--game style/Theme:
I am willing to stick to any theme/style the artists want
as long as the game maintains its competitivenes (and possibly fun?!)
Futuristic, cartoonish, robo-techie, kiddie toons, ancient..
anything really but please try to be original. (cars would be nice)
knights and dragons have already been done over and over again. :shrug:

--Whats needed:
1 programmer (me)
1 animator/modeler
please be determined to finish it, dont leave in the middle of the project.


--more game specifics:
the avatars will have:
[ speed, visibility, stamina, strength ]
and the player will control their possible behavior by determining
the avatars priorities:
[go after resources, go after opponents, aggresive, guard own area, etc..]

the player will also be able to:
[claim new territory, improve his avatars skils]
by using the energy he has gained so far.
The player can opt to improve his avatar or quickly expand his region
or protect what he has conquered so far etc..

Additional info

Each player will upload 1 picture of their choice at the begining of the
game, and that pic will be underlayed on the their own territory, thus
becoming more visible as their teritory grows.

this game needs 2-8 players to be played. On sstartup the players are
arranged around the center of the region in a circular way.

internally the game will be turn based in the sense that decisions by the server will be taken every 5 seconds.
suprise bonuses and traps/weapons will be added to add an element of surprise

:wise:

the view of the game will me birds eye view of a 3d environment with a 2d collision map (i.e ground is flat)
low detail 3d avatars are fine. animation will either be frame anim or skeleton/skin
also some building blocks are needed for walls, other obstacles, buildings,trees for decorative purposes.
walk animation loops + ?? ...
textures for smoke, fire particle system


programming wise:
I got sockets and rendering opengl engine,
need server side synchronization, persistent world, reconnection capability.
need client to display persisten world state , animations of avatars and interface for player control
also maybe a simple chat and/or alliance forming system.
gameplay / simple AI code
sound effects, music, timed sessions
general stuff.. zlib
