I wanted to do a Aliens Versus Predator picture so here goes...

...heres the little rough sketch of the idea I had, basically a pred fighting some aliens, killing the one in front with his wristblades, holding one to the side by the throat, firing backwards and destroying one behind and maybe aiming at things off screen as well....Phew!

This Time I rendered a background in Cinema 4D (left) and did a bit of painting over with the airbrush in photoshop(right)

Started roughing their positions with the airbrush...

i think it looks good, but as far as composition goes, no subject really catches my eye. the predator should, but he is so small that he's no more significant than one of the aliens, live or dead.

also, you should never segment a figure like the way you have done with the alien on the bottom. it makes the viewer uncomfortable, or at least distant from the image. there is no dynamic energy coming from the alien on the bottom of the image.

I watched predator 2 the other night and he fires over his shoulder backwards and kills "keyes" the dude in the white suit and as he jumps off the platform....thats the idea behind it that he can look and lock then fire later when he chooses?!?

some good points there wgeddes, I'll give en some more thought!

I hope your Predator is "acidproof" ;) Looking great so far, keep the good work, i like how you mix 3D render programs with Photoshop.

I think if you were to make the Predator much bigger and more dynamic it will help out alot.

As others has pointed out, the Predator seems too small. Predators are bigger (at least a bit) than aliens, and this one looks quite small. The alien in the background also looks too big.
And I think it would help if you 'moved' the whole scene a bit further back in the tunnel, now it almost feels crowded.
And the plasma cannon can only lock when the predator has it's sight on it. The predator can fire it while not looking though, but it has (obviously) less accuracy. :)

That's only my suggestions.. I could in no way make something half as good as this myself :)

Oh, and I must say I love what you did to the background in photoshop!

Its starting to look really nice, some good steps and i think if you do what most people are saying here then it should progress really well.

Excellent work so far. This would make a killer 3D project too.
