View Full Version : rig problem
Werner 11-07-2003, 09:53 AM Hey guys and girls
I created a nice easy rig to pose my character better, but I'm having problems.
Everything works well except when I created a "main control null" to be able to move the entire rig around. I parented the object mesh with all it's children, to the newly created Null. Why does the pivot of the object jump to where it does?
This causes problems when I want to use a null (with follower) to control the hip and spine rotation. The object itself, jumps to the bounding box thingy and stays there.
I hope you understand what I mean...let me know if it's not clear enough.

before you parent to the null object, make sure "parent in place" is enabled. this might do the trick. it seems the pivots of your object are not at zero and this *might* cause the weird offset.
i don't fully understand the problem
But have you got AFTER IK ON in the follower options
this can do odd things to the rig if left on
turn it OFF
but if everysingle thing is parented to the Main Control Null it should still work correctly hmmm....:hmm:
maybe turn follower OFF for a sec
that's is the only motion plug you got working isn't it ?
and see what happens ? :wip:
on the other hand, i simply cant believe you didnt think of that. does disabling follower work perhaps ?

no, the problem happened before I even tried to add follower to some of the other bone.
I just want to get my bounding box back to the center of the object....as you can see from the image, it's moved to the back of the object, and this causes problems later when I want to use follower.
I tried resetting the pivot of the mesh but it stays in the same place...almost as if it's thinking that the object is sitting in that possition....but it's not.

i've done this myself so i had to check it out
you've moved your root bone away from you main object
reset the root bones position and you'll be back to normal
in the pics above i've move the root bone and got the same pic as your yours
if not post again
