View Full Version : Help - Insert Loop in Lightwave?
jburford 10-03-2011, 07:17 PM Am currently working through a Workshop (my first) here at CG Society. The Workshop is not 3D Package specific, but the Instructor, is using 3DS Max. In the examples, which are easy enough to understand, he is using Connect Edges (Insert Loop) often and it really seams an ease to use.
Howerver, in Lightwave, I am stumped am not finding any tools which give me this ease, only partial tools and a lot more work at getting anywhere near the examples. Add Edges is simply not cutting it, as I can only go one small section of a time, til the next edge, and not insert a Loop through the entire Mesh. Did not have much luck with Edge Bevel, and Bandsaw is only getting me there part way.
Is there no Tool, or Plugin to give me this functionality?
Any help appreciated.
Cheers,
Jeff

bandsaw/bandsaw pro is what you want... be aware that itll stop at the point where the poly loop ends (if it splits out to a ngon or tri for instance)

Thanks for the reply. Had a bit better luck with Bandsaw Pro, but am picking up TruArts Swiftedge as this does more what I am looking for.
Thanks again.

SwiftEdgeLoop doesn't have such limitation and since v2.0 optionally obeys polygon selection. You can turn it on or off, if you want, without unselecting polygons.

Select an edge ,then go to Multiply tab and under subdivide select Split ring or
select 2 nearby polygons go to menu select -->select loop and then press L
