Hi there,

Could you please tell me the best settings for scanning in pencil sketches,

I have tried many times but the scanner allways leaves out lines and never picks up the hole drawing (just the heavier lines)

Is this because my scanner is wack or is there a way that I will get it to pick it up?

I have tried it at 300dpi in grey, lineart and colour, what is the best way to do it?

Thanks

Matt

Hi.

I'd scan in color. At least 300dpi resolution.

In Photoshop (Assuming this is your software.) I'd clean the image up using the curves tool in Image/Adjust/Curves.

In the curves window, make the line look like an S, but watch your scanned image, to see if you have the appropriate darkness, etc.

You may also want to remove any colors or any extra 'things' from the image, such as dust or whatever have you. You can do this manually, or maybe if the drawing is on notebook paper, you can select/color range/ and get the specific color out of the image, in this case it would be blue, for the blue lines.

When you're done, image/adjust/desaturate.
