Wonderful model, very low poly count, lot of character.
Hair is funny and has areas for nice rigging and animation (like elvis at the end of a concert when all the grease he had on it has melted and disappeared).
Perhaps you could reduce hair volume at the back of the head.

Nice! I really like this. The only thing that "bothers" me is the raised "creases" on both sides of his crotch area (is that supposed to be his hip/pelvis bone?), and the symmetry of his beard (especially the front part).
Other than that, animate him!! Let's see Agent X in axion!
PS: is that an X-Files logo? :)

do you mean the armor thing ? like skateboarder ?
no..no.. i just did him to test messiah.. i dont think that i want to have too much stuff to bother about in the rigging process
BTW, did you use the same boots from your sister vasquez? (modified a bit ofcourse.)
gotcha !! yes i did..i have asort of object library with all my stuff inside .. and sometime when i am not inspired or dont need anything exclusiv .. i canibalize and modify .. old stuff to make them fit my need
The only thing that "bothers" me is the raised "creases" on both sides of his crotch area (is that supposed to be his hip/pelvis bone?), and the symmetry of his beard (especially the front part).
no i that should be some cloth crease.. heavy leather suit ..
but cause of his big balls.. i gave some wrinkle in this area ..
without them .. he is too sleek looking
is that an X-Files logo?
no..it´s a "X" trm3d logo
Other than that, animate him!! Let's see Agent X in axion!
would need first to figurte how the rigging process in messiah work..
and i am not sure that i would be allowed to continue to post him in the lw section ..cause i plan to render in messiah

The only reason I asked is that the rest of his suit (except for his gloves and boots) is sleek and smooth.

No, I meant the character's actual kneecaps, the BONE that defines the knee.
It seems to be missing, just an observation regarding the anatomy.
telamon
11-10-2003, 11:34 PM
Nice character, very strong pose, looking forward to seeing him walking. So simple to give a personnality to a character through a pose. Remarkable Idea XTRM3D.
Nevertheless I am afraid the rigging will be a bit more complicated than usually, if you plan to have an expression controller for the whole spine.
I agree, with the latest poster, I can't see the kneecaps. It is perhaps because they are slightly under the boots... Perhaps you should add something to reveal them a bit more.

Not really, in messiah can set that up with a single expression, in seconds. It's only slightly more complex if you're using an animation heirachy seperate from your deformers. The expression system is one of the best things in the messiah package.
And that is one of the coolest characters I've seen in a while. Way to go xtrm3d

messiah rooxxx.. but i suxx at learning a new workflow.. in short time..
humm.. then.. let´s stay with lw for rigging an animating...at least for the next time
just an early deformation test .. the weight map are not 100 % done.. and the ik setup is not finished

By looking at those renders the upper arms are too weird and incompatible.
The skin tone doesn't look right with his red uniform.... and the arms modelling is too simple with no muscles defined.
Last, I think he should have a smarter glasses.....may be the X-Men like but not the two circles.
Chagidiel
11-15-2003, 01:48 PM
Very cool model! The face and hair is just great; modelling, detail, style. The idea and execution of the beard is awesome.
I agree totally with mister Ma up here about the arms though. They need muscle definition and some work on the shading. Looking at the wires, I see something strange in the way you have modelled the biceps. Sorry to just heave that out, but I can´t really put my finger on what it is. Maybe it might be the lower row of polys (downward towards the armjoint) that I think shouldn´t belong to the actual bicep. But you know your modelling, I´m sure you´ll figure it out (if you even find it strange as I).
The boots and gloves are so perfect! Have you tried giving them another color than the suite, or perhaps just a darker tint of red?
dickma
11-15-2003, 03:30 PM
Hey, don't call me Mr. Ma (hehe!). I just feel I am a stranger.
Well. Beside the arms, I would like to see some ab. muscles.
Wow, this is amazing, lol can't wait to see a final animation if you make one.

hi,
thanx for your critique..
but i think that i would leave him the way he is now..
actually i feel the nedd to do some new charachter animation..and i just builded him for the purpose of animation..
so or so i dont go for realistic.. but more for a stylised version..
agree about the skin tone.. and the glove/boot should be darker ..
but for the geometry.. sorry i leave it this way.. ( work really nice with cel shader :-)

Hi extm3d,
For you, it is a very easy task to enhance the model better (just smooth shift, smooth shift and smooth shift), and the little enhancement can leads to a win-win situation, good in modeling and good in animation.
And you own the model, why not save a copy and play with it to see the differences?
I have expectation.

I don't know if you would call it hype. I see it as a community appreciating anothers skills as an artist and a LWaver. And thats a very cool thing.
As for the character, i think it kicks ass. Xtrm3d, always does such stylish characters that are so full of perosnality and life. This is a really hard thing to do.
Just because you can model a character doesn't mean it comes built with a personality. The artist puts that in there too! This is somthing XTRM3d always does so well it personally impresses me every single time as I know first hand how hard this is to do.

That's a really cool model/render! But I do have a "big" (<----- that's a pun) problem with it, it looks like he has a rolled up sock in his undies, or maybe it's a spare grenade, or a baby kangaroo in a pouch. Especially in poli's last render, the pose on the left.

That gun is huge, it doesnt look like your guy could lift it up. But it does remind me of the huge weapons that you see anime chick with.

You can tell that you haven't downloaded his free model pack. ;)
He has everything from characters, guns (that could do with some edge beveling), and cars (that are [I think] frozen and trippled so you can't tell what meathod he used. Mind saying what meathod you used Chris? :) ).

That looks very cool.
I Love the massive gun! the size is very very cool. Now he needs a HUGE holster on his belt to carry the guns ;)
