View Full Version : Lw 10 dynamics
twosheds 09-26-2011, 03:06 AM Is it true that LW still uses only one core of a multi-core CPU to calculate dynamics, even in LW 10.1?
If so, I just can't believe that. I don't want to believe that.
I can't remember now where I read it, but I'm sure it wasn't on the LW product features page.

Dynamics isn't allways easy to implement regarding multithreading. Most libraries / engines out there are still, in most respects, singlethreaded. Even RealFlow has problems utilizing 100% cpu power of a 6-core (12 threads) i7 processor.
The "only" difference between LWs native dynamics and libraries such as Bullet, is the speed and accuracy.
I'm pretty sure LW will get a native implementation of Bullet, probably as soon as LW11 (but who knows except those who develop LW?).
