Name: Jin Hee Lee
Country: Korea (South)
Software: Maya, mental ray, Photoshop, ZBrush
Here is my latest work.
The base mesh was done in Maya and the details are sculpted in Zbrush.
I used Maya HairSystem and fur for the hairs.
The shading, lighting and fur was finally rendered on Mental Ray.
I hope you like it!

wow!! Just amazing!
09-23-2011, 01:42 AM
The details are great, but I also like how much care you've taken in creating an engaging image, not just a successful technical exercise (although I like those too!).
09-23-2011, 02:08 AM
Outstanding job.. very impressive and you should be very pleased! This is front page quality
09-23-2011, 04:38 AM
Very impressive and great details. I like the textures so much~! :)
09-23-2011, 05:18 AM
This photo is definitely not 3D. )))
09-23-2011, 05:51 AM
Dude, just really, really great. Amazing attention to detail. 5* from me.
09-23-2011, 07:20 AM
That is true there are no failure on the technical point of view but you select also a really interesting subject. Congrats !
09-23-2011, 08:53 AM
Awesome job. I had the photo you used as reference tucked away in my reference folder for a while, and i still recognized it right away. Very faithful to it. Great.
09-23-2011, 09:03 AM

wow, awesome post, very good result. Congratulations.
09-23-2011, 02:35 PM
Top-notch work all around, the skin shading is phenomenal too! what maps was used for it?! the only thing that can be improved imo is the beard which seems a bit flat.
09-23-2011, 03:21 PM
Wow ! Good work .
Looks really good, very photoreal
09-23-2011, 04:53 PM
Thank you for the comments!:)
nice model and textures.
my only crit here, i miss sss for the skin, would give more depth to it, because i think the skin looks a bit flat.
09-23-2011, 05:27 PM
Very nice, and realistic :)
09-23-2011, 05:46 PM
fantastic work. great model and amazing textures. congrats.
ps. front page and in my opinion choice award
09-23-2011, 07:08 PM
Wow amazing work. Phantastic model great attention to detail and masterfully made textures. I´m very impressed and I agree that this should be at least front page!
09-24-2011, 03:50 AM
Wow, that's for almost perfect job that you do. But my suggestion is, try to make the hair thinner than it will be perfectly real. When I can do such as work like this??
09-24-2011, 12:33 PM
Posted it on my blog.
09-24-2011, 01:11 PM
Masterpiece indeed. My only crit is that the corner/pointy bit in his left eye is too sharp and unrealistic. The rest is spot on!
09-24-2011, 01:47 PM
I usually don't care about the realistic portraits but holy wow! Excellent
09-24-2011, 04:59 PM
Amazing! :bounce: So photo-real!
09-25-2011, 07:37 AM

09-29-2011, 11:29 AM
Strong expression. I like the leathery look of his skin, too. Overall an excellent job man!

10-01-2011, 11:15 PM
Beautiful illustration of a Korean man!
10-01-2011, 11:50 PM
Very cool man, very realistic.
For me, to make it perfect, (and please, do take this as a constructive criticism, not hating ^^) I could use much more SSS on his right ear, since the sun is shining that way. Another thing, the tear duct is for me way too much in the middle of his (right) eye (i understand that to certain extent it compliments the expression, but even though) and in real life, the lacrimal caruncle begins where the tear duct starts, but i'm missing the caruncle all together in the right eye. And the skin from his right eye to the side feels too plastic, like it just melted away, I'm missing more detail there I guess... Oh yeah, and a little too much specular on his middle-right tooth (since it's in a shadowed area and the sun is shining from another direction I don't think it should be that bright).
Again, this is just things I noticed on a second look, and I'm comparing to realism. Although I turned out to be the one with the longest post here, it's really still just a heads up.. (isn't that why we're all here? Man, I hope you see it that way too.. Otherwise, ur not gonna like me at all ^^)
Anyhow, really great work. The cloth work is extraordinary.

Love it. Awesome work :-) Great expression he has. And so many details
But must agree with nemeru on the eyes and shader of the skin, they could use a little tweak!
10-05-2011, 06:19 AM

10-24-2011, 02:14 AM
Amazing! The HDR photographic look to it sells this image bigtime! The skin is a little too plasticky, but I guess that's true for old-aged skin. Really awesome. :)
10-24-2011, 10:09 AM
Lovely work. It cannot get more real than this :)
10-24-2011, 12:58 PM

Awesome Quality Details And Textures!
06-11-2012, 01:06 AM
This is REALLY good!
The composition is gripping.
Only things that kept me from thinking its a photo is the specularity may lack some dry spots and the hair/beard looks a bit to clean.
08-23-2012, 07:06 AM
Wow amazing work!! congrats
09-07-2012, 04:09 PM
