nice modeling, nice lighting, nice render... the bubbles are of too, because skarks do not breathe... it filters oxygen in water but do not reject air... And bubbles are air ...

maybe the shark just ate something that was breathing =),,
the image is nice, and the shark is great, both model and textures.
Just doesnt look very underwater'ish... the BG gives me a feeling of being up very high above the ground.

Wow that is really cool nice job man!
The texturing is especially well done.
My one comment is maybe to add more particles to make it look a little more like deep water.

Good job :applause: what software did you use? and can we see some wires? Maybe could you say how you lit the scene?

Great model. Great Textures.
Bubbles are fine. Maybe he's diving after just surfacing. Maybe he's burping swallowed air from a previous meal. Maybe he's a she! That's the great thing about Cg. It's like a risky fart, you never know what you're gonna get...

That's a really nice model, but your textures and environment are letting it down.
The textures look too dirty - a shark wouldn't have those black marks on it, especially since it spends its life submerged in water.
The environment just doesn't look like water - you need to get the right caustic patterns filtering through it.
The way in which the lighting is catching the fin somehow makes it look like it's not properly attached to the body o_O
With regards to the actual scene as a whole, I think you could have done without the second shark. It looks like it was added as an afterthought, and I think the scene would have been fine without it.
As I said, this is a cool model, I just think the textures and environment could be improved a bit to make the entire scene really cool :)

Uh oh, looks like someone has been watching too much of Shark Week.
Nice models and textures, however your backgound needs work.

very nice.... but have some suggestions...
the shark model is good but as some others have said the texturering and the enviroment needs some work...
the caustics are allready brought up but the water in your scene is way too clean.. the ocean is full of plankton and other little seacreatures..
put in some flakes that drift and vanish in the depth of the sea..
mabey some glance in the eye of the shark? dont know if thats true though. if not im sry to have said it...
i like it very very much though and with some little improvements it could be a masterpiece ifnt it is already
great work dude:thumbsup:

You might want to add some fog to the lights. It might help.

I'm gonna have to agree on the bubbles. I was searching google to see if I could find any pix of a shark with bubbles, but I couldn't find any, but I came across this picture. The way the light pokes through and the overall blue haze, this would be a good direction to take to add some realizm too it. Your modelling and texturing is great, no just improve on the render and you'll have a top notch image. Looks great!

Superb job overall. I think the extra shark(s) in the scene detract from it. I think the pic posted directly above with the two sharks is of them in captivity, because great whites are generally solitary hunters. Also, the caustic patterns and such aren't very visible in the middle layers of ocean, where the shark spends much of its time, and where light doesn't find its way down. As far as realism goes, I wouldn't say you have anything wrong as far as those things go :). Great job!

incredible work----the texture is beautiful, love that bloody gash too. excellent!!!

Front page quality!
My only question would be about the bubbles. I'm asuming that the two sharks fought or something and that would explain the fresh injuries/cuts on the shark, but the bubbles...?
-Other than that, it's very very well done. Nice job!

Really ,do you think this can help ?
I always see this black and flat eyes....so I was a little confused about that...

Im pretty sure sharks have that creepy black flat eye all the time, except when you see them attack their eyes go white, protective coating or something.
Sharks scare me

I was about to correct Leigh, but you did it yourself :)
I think you could put some more glossiness in the eyes.
There is a protective coat coming up from behind when it attacks.

I would add some fish that usally follow a shark, like those flat critters that suck on his belly and get the rests of his meals... and soms of those lil fish that are swimming around it... Maybe soms plankton close to the camera... and some volumentric lights comming from the surface...
Nice Picture dude, really love it... give it a lil more detail and try to catch the majesty and enormous size of this preditor and you've got yourself a masterpiece

Great stuff! Nice to see some natural life images. I agree with the pro bubble lobby, adds some extra content to the image. Besides this is art, it doesn't always have to be totally 100% accurate.

I think the gills might be too high up on the shark's side. Also, from how deep it looks, there still should be some sunlight filtering down as the others said. Unless the sky's supposed to be overcast, in which case it should be darker underwater I think.
And the ocean's not always filled with living things swimming around. It's pretty big. I think it's fine the way it is.

the bubbles are from the diver that just got eaten :p
really nice work, looks awesome
I like how people have preconceived ideas of what things (sharks) look like, so if it differs from what they invision, then it's automatically wrong.
Sharks skin does not have to be automatically white and grey, and living under water makes no difference. The water does not have to have plancton floating around either. The ocean is vast and varys everywhere.
And last but no least, it doesn't have to be sunny and midday inorder for a shark to be swimming in the water. They do swim at dawn and on overcast days. Just because caustics looks 'cool' and it harder to do than a normally lite scene, does not mean it's mandatory in every underwater scene.
I have never seen a picture of a shark with highlites on it's eyes, i'm not sure where you got that from. (i'm not claiming to be a pro either, but would still like to see a picture out of curiousity)
In closing, you can probably figure that i like the render and i agree that you could add some more detail in the surroundings, but it doesn't HAVE to be the common filler. (but if you are gonna leave those highlites on the shark, then you better add the caustics, and if you don't wanna, then tone them down atleast)

About the glossy eyes. I have never seen a sharkeye in real life, not under nor over water so I can only reffer to programs and info on the Internet. Don't know what's wrong or right about it really. Probably it's because we've seen sharks under and over water and of course when they are over water they are glossy.
e.g.
http://www.abc.net.au/eyre/stories/m483096.jpg
But when they are under water the eyes might look more lambertlike and since this scene is underwater we should probably stick with that..
About the caustics: I see caustics on the sharks back so I would like to see some rays, but hey... I think the image is great. Modeling and texturing is great.

I agree with MArvi about the little fish sucking on his belly. With that in mind you can create more of mood for the scene because right now it slightly lacks any story, you should really think about adding more items to the scene. I also agree that the eyes need a little gloss to boost up their look. But enough with that, the shark is excellent . Great work.
