View Full Version : help forearm ik
squeige 11-05-2003, 11:34 PM hey guys I have a prob, I used an extra "forearm" joint to rotate my forearm, prob is when I add Ik it takes it into account... how do I fix this??
any better ideas??
Id rather not change my topology too much as all my weights are done please help

Instead of making the IK from the shoulder to the wrist, have it go from the shoulder to the extra joint. Then, go into Hypergraph, find the effector for that IK and use insert mode to snap it to the wrist. Now the arm moves as if you had made the IK from the shoulder to wrist, but doesn't rotate the extra joint you've added.

Also, if you have more joints in your forearm or a more complex setup. You can create a simpler arm, with just a shoulder, elbow and wrist and use it to drive the more complex one with orient constrains.
