I have a 3D model of an some old buildings and ruins I want to texture.
I know nothing about texturing, so using Vue I applied a simple rock texture, and it looks ok but not photoreal, its just 1 flat texture. Actually it looks pretty good, but too clean and cartoonish, so I want to add in detail with textures to achieve photorealism.
But, I want to take it up a notch, and texture it like a pro, by painting in photoreal textures.
So can someone please point me in the right direction how I can texture using any program?
I am really good with photoshop and a few 3d programs, I just never done photoreal texturing.
What programs would give me the most photoreal results for texturing architectural objects? I dont want cleanliness, I want photorealism to composite actors in the foreground, and walk around the models, etc.
I want it to look at least as good as the attached photos and this clip, notice the grunginess and how some parts of the buildings are stained, it just has a realistic feeling.

Heres the youtube clip, they the architecture renders start at 3:00.

I have this project and I want to do it right and learn on the fly, can someone point me in the right direction, or give me the general workflow, and maybe used the shots I proved as a case studies? I just dont find much info on this out there.
For example, if someone gave you a obj to begin texturing for one of these old buildings in the samples provided, what program would you first start with, and what is the general workflow process with those programs? Or are there video tutorials on this somewhere?
Thanks.
