hey,
usually an XSI'er but need to dabble in max for a project.....is it possible to save 5.1 files so that 5 can read them? a plugin maybe or something?

export as 3ds, there may be a plugin, whihc i would also like as 3ds doesnt save everything :|

You could try using .fbx export/import, or BFF (http://www.scriptspot.com/bobo/darkmoon/bff/) depending on what you need to keep intact. Be aware that you'll likely lose some information whichever method you use.

you don't need to do anything to go from Max 5.1 to 5. 5.1 is just a bug fix so all your files from 5.1 should open normaly in 5.
