So im making this simple tutorial for this low-poly object im supposed to do, and at one point I have to select 2 vertices and connect them, to loop the connection afterwards and scale the remaining vertices to shape it up, BUT I cant select the connection I just made to create the loop

tl;dr: why cant I select the loop my connection after ?

From your screenshot you are still in vertex sub-object mode. In this case you need to move into edge sub-object mode. See this image: Edge sub-object mode. You can select loops

of vertices through the Modify Selection tab of the Graphite Modelling tools in 3dsmax version 2011 and above but for the following chamfering operation it requires you to select

edges in edge mode.
