View Full Version : Bug with Final Gather + SkinSSS Compound = forever to render

Hi, is there a way to disable Final Gather on the Skin SSS compound?
It really takes very long to render with final gather, while the Mental Image fast Skin Phen is faster with FG, but you can't mix it with the mia material.

Hi there. One possibility is to override the Final Gather cast in the Visibility tab of the meshes, which have the SSS comp assigned to.

Other objects in the scene still receive and cast FG points but the sss ones are not calculated.

Or better yet, explode the SkinSSS compound.
Delete the lm_irrad_filter, irradiance_shader and diffuse_irrad_filter
them on the lm_sample_shader uncheck add indirect lighting. Done.
No Final gather contribution on the lightmap, only on the surface of the object. And it renders 600% faster.

and looks much worse imho... but yeah the above solution properly solves this. for the record though, this isn't a bug.
