View Full Version : Advice on how to model wierd shape

Hi guys, im just about to attempt to model the attached objects...any ideas on where to start or even what method to use i.e hard model, splines etc? So far iv been modeling simple shapes so this is going to be a real test for me, so any help would be awesome as always.

Hmm... I'd try modelling the base first, without too many polygons, and then model the other pokeyupey parts and other detail seperately.

The next step would be to delete the polygons where you will add the extra parts. It's almost important to make sure your edge count is the same on the end of the seperate object, and the base object. Then you attach, and weld.

Not sure if this is the best way, but it's at least mine, and it works for me :)

I would block in the proportions first, no details, and keep the geometry very low. So this would be a mix of primitve shapes (cylinders and boxes) mixed with edge modeling.
