View Full Version : Blending in Photoshop vs Painter

When you overlay two colors in Painter they automatically blend like real paint but not in Photoshop. In Photoshop I can't get the brushes to blend the colors together.
What settings or brush do I need to blend the colors in Photoshop?

To get things to blend, I use the "heal" tool right above the brushes, and depending what you're trying to do, the main settings I use are "proximity" and "content aware"

Thanks. I'll try that. I was hoping a brush could be made to do the blending like in Painter but maybe PS CS 6 will incorporate that.

I'm new to PS, there very well may be. But that is the tool I currently use, especially for green screening

Hi, sounds promising. :) Do you know where it is located and is it in Photoshop CS?

Thanks for the link. Do you know how to open the Brush palette he refers to? I see brush-presets, and how are you able to assign hotkeys to brushes? Right now it seems to me like you have to manually change all the presets each time you want a different brush, even in CS5.

Hi Andreas,
To open the Brush Palette, while the brush tool is active (b) select the panel icon in the options bar .
Window->Brushes.
This is for CS3, it should be similar in CS5 or check the documentation.
As for a shortcut for a brush preset, try using actions and set a KB shortcut to that action.
